Why should I use a VPN?

SurfEasy is a Canadian-based company that offers virtual private network services, which are used to connect computers safely online. It provides users with an encrypted data tunnel between their computer and its servers, which ensures their privacy. SurfEasy offers different types of VPNs, but this review is about its free version, which you can use to connect up to five devices simultaneously at no cost.

Also,  SurfEasy, like almost all other VPNs, provides a free trial version for its premium service. This allows new users to try the product before committing to it and purchasing it.

While SurfEasy is easy to use and does a fine job at unblocking some streaming services and protecting your data – there are definitely other VPNs on the market that perform better. However you might decide to stick with SurfEasy for its ease of use and for their novel features like the private browsing USB key and ad tracker blockers.

Why use SurfEasy VPN?

SurfEasy provides a secure, private, and fast internet. The service allows its users to get unrestricted access to any website from anywhere in the world. Its free version is faster than most VPNs because it has more servers, but its paid version is even faster.

SurfEasy encrypts users’ data and also their IP addresses, which means that hackers will be unable to steal it. It is a good choice if your main goal is to browse the web anonymously.

However, SurfEasy can’t unblock Netflix or Hulu from other countries because of these services’ advanced encryption techniques.

Our Rating Process

When it comes to choosing the right tools to protect yourself online, it can be overwhelming. We tested SurfEasy VPN and assessed it based on features, price, customer service, and user experience and scored them each out of 5 points to help you choose the right VPN for you!

Features – 3/5

SurfEasy has a variety of features that are offered by other VPN servers and some that are more unique. They use the highly secure OpenVPN protocol with AES-256-GCM encryption, a bank-grade encryption. While there is no kill switch when the connection drops the app shows a warning notification and reconnects.

Many people use VPNs to be able to access geo-restricted content – so we decided to test just how many streaming services we could gain access to. US Netflix failed along with Amazon Prime Video, Disney+, and BBC iPlayer. If you’re looking to watch your favorite show while you’re away, this is not the VPN for you.

One of the best features of this VPN is the Private Browsing USB Key. This allows you to connect via USB instead of downloading the app. This lets you gain access to the VPN without signing up for a full subscription.

Price – 4/5

SurfEasy beats so many of its competitors with their free trial plan because it lets you connect up to five devices. The free trial is limited to 500MB, but you get a good idea of how the product works.

You can opt to sign up for a month-to-month plan which will run you $5.99/month, and that gets even more affordable when you commit for a year. The yearly plan is currently selling for $29.88/year. Both plans give you access to the same features which include no data limits, dedicated customer support, and region selection.

Customer Service – 3/5

SurfEasy doesn’t offer live chat support like many of its competitors. Users have access to email and phone support between 9 am and 5 pm EST. While there’s no live chat, we found that they usually responded within 24 hours of making contact.

User Experience – 3/5

SurfEasy is easy to set up and it only takes a few minutes to get up and running. You’ll immediately notice that the dashboard is super simple to understand. If you’re a VPN newbie, the process Is painless.

Once you login you see a map with your location and IP address, most VPNs will show you this view, but SurfEasy’s was not intuitive. You can’t scroll, zoom in, zoom out or click on any element. The settings are also limited compared to other VPN services: you can turn ad-blocking on and off, but you can’t change the protocol, enable a kill switch, or access DNS settings.
