Advertiser Disclosure

For many individuals, live streaming has become a full-fledged source of income. But don’t throw your job away just yet! While it’s simple to begin live streaming, many people don’t know what to do next.

Finding the best platform for streaming can be a challenge, but for beginners, there are a few key factors to consider.

Streaming from a computer is the most common form of live streaming; however, using a handheld device can be beneficial as well. Using your smartphone and the Periscope app (for Apple devices) or Meerkat (for Android), anyone can stream high-quality content right from their phone – and even edit it on the go!

The most important thing to remember about live streaming is to make yourself heard. Whether it’s through Periscope or Meerkat, you must find a specific niche first before diving into the deep end of this industry. Utilizing hashtags will help you reach a targeted audience and finding what other live streamers in your field are doing can also be beneficial.

Enter Restream to grow your audience with a single stream to multiple platforms. This Restream review will take a critical look at how this streaming software can take your career to the next level and put more money in your pocket.

What is Restream?

Let’s face it – social media has completely changed our lives. Whether you’re an amateur gamer, Fortune 500 company, content creator, or politician, chances are you’re streaming some sort of content to your target audience. And when you’ve got multiple social media platforms, it can be incredibly annoying and time-consuming to cross-post. A great way to reach a bigger audience is to multistream or live stream to more than one platform at the same time.

Restream lets you easily multistream to 30+ social platforms simultaneously, so you really can be everywhere at once. Given that type of reach, you can easily get your content in front of bloggers, influencers, businesses, and let’s not forget – your best prospects! Whether you’re streaming in real-time or uploading previously recorded material, Restream helps its users deliver more than 8 million broadcasts per month, and it’s only getting bigger. Call us impressed.

Andrew Surzhynskyi and Alexander Khuda created Restream in 2015 to help streamers reach a larger audience. Initially, their focus was on the gaming community but quickly saw how Restream helps in all kinds of circumstances, from streaming to professional keynote broadcasting.  Over the next five years, their robust ecosystem of tools flourished into what we use today.

How does Restream work?

Because Restream is a cloud-based application, all of the trouble that comes with on-premise installation video editing tools is gone. You only need a web-enabled PC to get up and running, and the rest is a breeze. Restream makes getting an account simple and straightforward. Once you click the “Get Started” button on the homepage, you’re taken to the signup page. Simply enter your username, email, and account password, and voila—you’re officially signed up. Restream allows you to broadcast live video to 30+ social networks at once, allowing you to reach, engage, and monetize your audience.

Now that your account is up and running, you’ll land on Restream’s dashboard. Just like it’s easy to join, the ease of setting up channel connections will have you streaming in no time. Restream’s automated system seamlessly links all your social accounts with a single click. It almost seems too easy to start streaming live videos, but it’s true.

If you’re new to streaming software, Restream offers an interactive onboarding guide to give you a rundown of the main functionalities. As a beginner, you shouldn’t need more than 10-15 minutes to get used to the platform. And for the seasoned vet, you’ll be navigating the dashboard quicker than you can pour your morning cup of coffee.

So, if you’re looking to channel your live videos to all the media giants, Restream should be top of your list. Our Rating Process

The right streaming software will give your videos a professional edge with well-mixed audio, high resolution, and more. In a rapidly growing market with developers fighting for your attention, it can be hard to choose the right one. That’s why we assessed Restream based on features, integrations, quality, and pricing. We assign all criteria a score out of 5 points for a comprehensive Restream app review to help you decide if this streaming software is the right fit for you.

Features – 4.5/5

Restream packs a punch with its features, and this is reflected in our scoring. There’s not much you can’t find on Restream. This feature-rich platform will take you to the next level from customizable branding, text-to-speech alerts, bots, and metaupdating, multistreaming, chat, scheduled events, and streaming pre-recorded videos. The ultimate goal of a great streaming platform is audience engagement and Restream makes it easy with their central analytics dashboard that’s part of Restream studio, where you can keep tabs on your viewers. Not only that, but you’ll also be able to see trending content and check in on the performance of your streams across various streaming channels.

An RTMP (Real-Time Messaging Protocol) pull link will supercharge your streaming. You can have your original stream playing in the background, and your own graphic overlaps with the audio in the foreground. This is especially useful when you want to have multiple live streams on one screen. Not every streaming service provider has an RTMP Pull feature but Restream doesn’t shy away from giving their users the best. Just keep in mind, this feature isn’t available on their free version, and you will have to choose from one of the paid plans (worth it, in our opinion).

Integrations– 4.5/5

The multistreaming platform integrates with a range of third-party applications, which has us scoring them high again. Restream lets you integrate with Ecamm Live, Facebook, Grip, LinkedIn, mimoLive, OBS, Parrot, Periscope, PhoneLiveStreaming, Twitch, Twitter, vFairs, vMix, and XSplit Broadcaster, just to name a few. Not to mention a range of third-party applications, including Elgato, SLOBS, and OBS Studio, making it easy to extend and enhance Restream’s core capabilities.

If you scroll for hours on through their listed integrations and still can’t find the one you want, you can stream to any destination that provides an RTMP URL and stream key using their Custom RTMP. Restream also allows users to request an integration via their live chat option. Connecting to your favorite platforms and tools saves you time and gives you everything you need to enhance your live videos.

Quality – 4/5

When it comes to quality, Restream is checking most of our boxes. One of the first things you’ll notice when visiting their site is their clean and easy-to-navigate layout. This carries over to their Restream Studio and every other integration available. If you’re wondering about video quality, all free plans offer a video quality of just 480p (which is pretty good for a completely free service). But if you’re looking to make a splash in the sea of streaming competition, their paid plans will give you the added benefit of streaming in full HD.

Taking you from 480p to an impressive 1080p, your videos will look more professional so you can differentiate yourself from the crowd. But, dozens of restream.io reviews report the quality of livestream video is dependent on your bandwidth. Where other competitors have dodged this bullet by allowing older uploaded videos to stream from their servers, Restream hasn’t quite figured this out yet. They also offer a limited time of 10 minutes before you can schedule a video unlike their competitors offering 1-minute scheduling.

Pricing – 4.5/5

Obviously, we had to score Restream high for pricing since so many of the necessary features you need for a killer stream experience are offered in their free version. Their plans are based on the number of custom platforms or extra channels you need and their additional features. Restream offers two categories of pricing plans. As an individual, they give you three options, while companies have two pricing options. We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again, Restream supports multistreaming to more than 30 different platforms, and that’s the case even on the free plan. Upgrading to a premium plan, like Standard at $16/month, will grant you access to a custom RTMP and some other notable features, so you can really work on establishing your own custom connections with third-party streaming platforms.

If you’re looking to take things even further, their Professional plan at $41/month offers you all of the same features as the Free and Standard plan plus up to 3 secured RTMP pull links, split audio track recording, Full HD streaming, video uploads, the ability to record up to 10 hours per stream, streaming of pre-recorded videos, cloud storage for up to 10 pre-recorded videos, and more. For company users, Restream really kicks it up a notch with the Premium plan at $99/month and Business plan at $299/month.
